if you live in vancouver washington but work in portland oregon, do you have to pay oregon income tax?

I am considering buying a house in Vancouver, just across the river from Portland. Washington has no state income tax. Will I have to still pay Oregon state income tax since my job is in Portland?

Yes but it will be refunded if you file an “out of state resident form” with an Oregon tax return.

You pay taxes based on your residence. You employer withholds taxes based on where you work. Fine line between the two. Ask you employer they will know for sure.

Yes, you will pay Oregon income taxes. Your money will not be refunded unless you are also taxed by the state of your residence, and since Washington has no income tax, you will pay the tax. See Oregon non-resident tax instructions for more information.
