Is there any interesting places to visit in Portland Oregon or Vancouver WA with 11 year old kids, naturewise or even seen snow in the summer, any websites?

go to OMSI -oregon museum of science and industry. its so much fun for kids as well as adults. there is so much to do there. there are a bunch of hands on exhibits. as well as an omnimax theater which is very fun. and you can ride in the submarine. thats cool too. the planetarium is also really neat.
The Portland ZOO is just west of the city on Highway 26.
OMSI is on the east side of the Willamette River.
To see SNOW near Portland, OR. (35 ft above sea level) you would need to drive approx. 62 miles east to Timberline Lodge (at timberline) on Mt. Hood VIA I-84 and OR. Highway 26.
Wildwood Trail is in Washington Park/Forest Park in SW Portland off of Burnside Street. It winds through Forest Park for 26 miles to the northwest.
A short drive north on I-5 (28 mi.) and east on WA. Highway 503 (29 mi.) will get you to the Ape Caves Lava tubes on the flank of Mt. St. Helens.
Springwater Corridor starts at the Willamette River’s east side prom and runs east toward Mt. Hood. It is a great cycling trail.
Look around a bit and you will find a lot of “nature wise” types of things to do for you and 11 year olds.
Vancouver:
Visit Fort Vancouver, where they often do reenactments.
Pearson Air Museum to check out some cool vintage airplanes.
Mt. St. Helens and the Ape Caves (sorry, no actual apes) are a an hour and a half north of Vancouver.
Theres…
Omsi- kid’s museum, lots of cool attractions
Oregon Zoo- when you catch some good weather here, perfect day for the zoo
Oaks park- amusement park with rides and games
enchanted forest- also an amusement park, my 10 year old daughter loved it there
theres also lots of parks and trails for hiking and such that are kid friendly
have fun
Go to California
Aside from OMZI, and the Portland Zoo, there is also, Bull-
winkles, the family amusement park near Wilsonville, south
of Portland. I was checking out some comments about it,
and the negative aspect, is that for family birthdays, they close the entire park to the public. And let the partgoers enjoy
the entire park. There are plenty of outside fun activities and
a restaurant. I think I even read there was a paint ball activity.
You can google the place, and read more. I read that it’s wise
to call ahead, to make sure they’re open to the public on the
day you want to go.
Check to see if Oaks Park Amusement Park is still in operation….if not check to see if the Skating Rink is still there. It was huge, with Rolling Floors! Great Fun! We used to have a ball there….it had been there forever…and I haven’t been a kid for 40 years….but it was great fun!
The train at the Portland Zoo!, the “penguinarium” is great!. Riding bicycles along the riverfront ( you can rent bikes there) ask PDX.com. Take the new tram up to OHSU and back!. Portland’s Saturday market is cool. Swimming on the Sandy River, Timberline Lodge, also Multipor/ Ski Bowl has both summer and winter recreation. Oaks Park is fun, as are the county and state fairs. Oregon.gov can show you Oregon visitor sites, also look up Multnomah County, Clark County, Clackamas County. I have found a lot of information about the area at the Oregon Dept. of Transportation. The beach is only a couple hours away. Hike up to Multnomah or Horsetail Falls, south of Portland there is Silver Creek Falls. Seek and ye shall find!… Have Fun !!!
