Posted by BoiseVoice in I want to move to Oregon to be near my daughter who lives in Portland. Are there areas that are cheaper to buy homes where I would only have to drive a few hours to get there? I do not want a manufactured home but, only want to spend under $100,000 usd.

To be honest under $100.000 will be hard to find anywhere in the US
The farther out away from the city you get, the lower prices get. Look in the suburban areas like Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Gresham. They are still pretty close to Portland, but out of the city limits, so prices are lower.
